About
Steven Meyer
Steven Meyer joined Chatham Emergency Management Agency as an Emergency Management Specialist in November 2024 after thirteen years of working as an officer with Chatham County Animal Services. His experience during Hurricane Matthew in 2016 and other disaster events sparked an interest in emergency management that finally culminated in a career change. He is excited to continue to serve the Chatham County community in a different role with the same professional commitment.
Steven was born and raised in Los Angeles and graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara. During his last decade on the West Coast, he was employed as a civilian employee for a police department as well as an elementary school teacher. Steven has integrated his passion and aptitude for teaching into his other employment and interests, developing training protocols and being a trainer.
In the summer of 2010, Steven and his wife relocated to Savannah. They live on the Southside and enjoy traveling, having spent a two-month road trip when they first met. Steven is a Star Wars fan, avid Lego builder, and a regular performer and instructor at a local comedy improvisational theatre.
