Chatham County Warning Siren System
The Chatham County Warning Siren System is used to notify residents of danger within their community. Once heard, residents should go inside and listen to their radio or television for any advisories for their area.

Currently there are 61 sirens located throughout the County that, if activated, warn residents to take shelter immediately and to monitor their weather radios, commercial radios and televisions.

In January 2009, CEMA expanded the program so that 95% of Chatham County is covered by the siren program. In 2008, the County Commissioners approved the purchase of 33 new sirens to replace the older sirens and expand the existing siren network.
