<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">The Chatham County Citizen Corps Council will be hosting Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training beginning in November in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Savannah</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>All <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Chatham</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">County</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> residents are strongly encouraged to sign up for this training which is designed to help individuals and neighborhoods prepare for and respond to catastrophic disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes and other major emergencies.<BR></SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-line-height-alt: 8.0pt"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">The CERT training is a 20 hour course that teaches participants basic disaster response skills such as hazard identification, small fire suppression, basic disaster medical operations, light search and rescue techniques, disaster psychology and the incident command structure.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>All courses are taught by first responders who use actual events as examples to emphasize instruction. </SPAN></P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-line-height-alt: 8.0pt"><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Following the classroom instruction, participants practice their new skills in a realistic four hour simulation with assistance from local fire departments and certified CERT Volunteers.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a CERT disaster kit, a certificate of completion and an open invitation to join the Chatham County CERT Organization.</SPAN></P>
