INFORMATION RELEASE  
 
Hurricane Wilma  
October 21, 2005 12:00 pm  
 
At 10:00 AM on October 21, 2005 Hurricane Wilma was located near latitude 20.2 North, longitude 86.5 West or about 35 miles Southeast of Cozumel, Mexico and is moving toward the north-northwest near 5 mph. Hurricane Wilma is a category four hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Maximum sustained winds have decreased slightly and are near 145 mph.  
 
The official forecast from the National Hurricane Center indicates a south Florida landfall early Monday. Under the current forecast Wilma does not impact Chatham County. However, CEMA will closely monitor the track of Wilma for any changes that might affect our area. As of this release, CEMA will enter Operating Condition (OPCON) 4 or the Monitoring Phase as defined by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. All interests should monitor Wilma through local media weather broadcasts and the National Weather Service, www.nhc.noaa.gov, for the latest information.  
 
The next Information Release will be submitted as conditions warrant.
